Journey with Us.

Our doors are open for anyone who’s battling a mental illness and is looking for an assertive space.

Guide to Starting Your
Membership Journey

Becoming a part of our community is a choice freely made, with no restrictions on the duration of your journey with us. Our doors are open to adults aged 18 and above who are navigating the challenges of mental health.

Membership Eligibility

Anyone aged 18 and above living with a mental health condition is welcome to apply for membership. It’s important to note, however, that conditions such as traumatic brain injury, developmental disabilities, and autism spectrum disorders do not fall within our eligibility criteria. Specialized services tailored to these specific needs are available in our region, and we encourage seeking support that best matches these conditions.

Step one:
Scheduling a tour

The initial step towards joining us is as simple as scheduling a tour. Our tours are designed to give you a comprehensive overview of what life is like here, typically lasting between 15 to 20 minutes.

However, we’re not watching the clock! Should you have numerous questions or wish to delve deeper, we’re more than happy to extend your visit.

During your tour, a current Clubhouse member will guide you through our facilities, giving you a firsthand look at a typical day with us. Many who visit find that their experience exceeds their expectations, revealing a unique and vibrant community unlike any other. It’s an excellent opportunity to meet our welcoming members and dedicated staff, all of whom contribute to the heartbeat of our community.

Please remember, this tour is for you to gather information and get a feel for our Clubhouse. There’s no pressure to make an immediate decision about joining. We believe in allowing you the space and time to consider if our community is the right fit for you.

Step two:
Enrollment

After your enlightening tour, we’ll guide you through the next crucial step: the enrollment process. This involves completing our New Member Information form. Don’t worry if you need assistance; we’re here to help every step of the way.

Once you submit these documents, we’ll carefully review your application. This process is an important part of ensuring that our Clubhouse is the best fit for your journey towards growth and recovery.

Step three:
Welcome to Your
New Beginning!

Congratulations on joining our community! As a new member of the Clubhouse, you’re now at the helm of your journey. You have the freedom to create a schedule that fits your life and aspirations. Whether you choose to be with us every day or less often, our doors are open to you. Engage in the activities that spark your interest, regardless of your current skills or experience level.

Many of our members join us around their work commitments—either before or after their shifts or on their days off. And if you’re looking for a bit of structure, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help you tailor your days to ensure you’re getting the most out of your time with us.

Our Clubhouse operates Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM. Plus, we’re not just a daytime community; we host social events during select evenings and weekends, and we’re open on all major holidays. There’s always something happening, and now, you’re a vital part of it.

A clubhouse functions as a local community center for individuals residing in the area with a history of mental illness. It serves as a space where members can connect with others who understand the challenges of living with a mental illness and focuses on fostering friendships and facilitating collaboration. Members can also obtain assistance with essential services like housing, and support in returning to school and finding employment.

If you are an adult living with a mental illness and preferably residing in San Antonio, then you are eligible to become a member of the San Antonio Clubhouse.

To become a member of our clubhouse, the first step is to schedule a tour of our facilities. Clubhouses do not require members to pay for their services since we primarily receive funding from the government. Hence, the membership is free to anyone living with a mental illness.

We do not offer medical, clinical, or treatment services. It is important to note that the clubhouse focuses on individuals being members of the club rather than as patients or clients. However, we can assist members in finding and accessing the necessary medical and social services they may require.

There are numerous activities available at our clubhouse and can be categorized as follows:

Work Ordered Days provide opportunities for clubhouse members to do tasks such as clerical and computer work, telephone duties, food service, clubhouse administration, member transportation services, and mental health advocacy.

We do have employment programs where we assist members in finding and maintaining paid jobs.

The clubhouse supports and helps members in enrolling and completing education programs, including college and other degree programs.

We have recreational activities where members and staff can enjoy and foster friendships together.
